Day 365 | One year

I can't believe a year has finally passed with my Dr.Denim jeans. Which is also another 6 months since they've been washed. I'm holding out for another 6 months with them, just to get some really proper wear out of them again. Perhaps I'll wash them on the same day next year, as I washed them this year, the 4th of March.

To celebrate my one year, I bought myself two more pairs of jeans from Dr.Denim, and it has to be said, at a reduced price thanks to Alexander at Dr.Denim. One pair is the new Ormonds raw, which is according to Alexander a rework on the current Terence model. The other is a of course a pair of Terence raw.

The Ormonds is very skinny and already fits me so so well. I folded it up a little at the bottom already and sits really well. I think even a bit better than my pair of Harris's did on the very first day. The denim is a bit thinner or "lighter" in weight, which is probably why they sit so well.

The Terence pair is my favourite so far. The denim is a very heavy weave, and the jeans sit a little lower on the hips, yet a not so skinny model. I folded up the hems much more on the bottom already as they were much longer. They feel really great on already, but because of the thick weave, it's taking some time to bend my knees and hips.

Both pairs will be worn for a year, and washed for the first time on the 4th of September 2010. I do however keep on asking myself why I alwasy start these things in the rainy season when winter is on its way, cause the goal is not to get these jeans wet, otherwise they'll shrink. If anyone's wondering why I haven't been so active on this site, it's because I have another hobby which I'm working on at the moment. It's called and is a photo essay of Swedish street fashion. We're busy building the site at the moment, and will launch at the end of autumn, with an eye to build an audience for the spring 2010.

  1. Hey Darryl. I'm excited to see how these turn out. What wash is this?

  2. Hi Jayme. These are raw denim jeans, which means they have never been washed.

That's the trick, to wear a pair of raw denim jeans for a year without washing them, so that they stretch in all the right places, because when you wash them the first time, they will shrink, like all denim does. They should then fit perfectly. I've done this with my first pair of Dr.Denim jeans and they turned out absolutely great after six months.

  3. hi Darryl..

I'm tomi from Indonesia. i also have the terence from drdenim. i bought it for about 3-4 months ago, but i only wear it occasionally cause I'm still working on my nudie..

so far, i really like my terence cause it has great material, great cutting, and lower price than any other premium denim..

It feels great to find someone who feel the same about denim, someone who is very passionate about denim..

I'm so excited to see your update on your terence and ormonds..

    keep on sharing..

  4. Darryl,

It's Mark with oneculture. I'm looking forward to seeing your next fade update.

I just washed my Pulsars yesterday for the first time in nearly 14 months. I can't believe that they actually smell good again--ha ha ha!!! It was well worth the wait though.

  5. Hi Mark. I'm planning to do an update of my original pair. The first day, then 6 months on, then after the first wash, and now again six months on. They're all greasy again. I'm travelling again, and they're so comfortable.

How's your next release of jeans coming? Planning anything? I would like a pair if there's any going.

  6. Hi Tomitomo

Thanks for the comments. I agree, the Dr.Denims are really well priced. And I have my new Terence jeans on at the moment. Really good style, denim and material.

  7. Hej Darryl, these are fine looking jeans you bought! I'm a fan of heavy jeans. This summer we went to Sweden(offcourse hehe) and we went to Gothenburg, I wanted to buy a new dry-selvage jeans(the last time we visited Gothenburg i bought a nudie regular ralf dry selvage, wich turned out great btw). This time I bought a Nudie Lab Bengt DS! I'm in month three now, but last saterday I fell in the woods leaving some pretty big grass stings on the jeans, Im not sure what todo leaving it this way doesn't feel rite cuz I visit customers wearing these jeans maybey dry-clean(what happens with the honeycombs???) or do you have some other options??? Thnx! grtzbob
